When modeling a loop ramp (or any situation where the alignment doubles back on itself) point controls and target aliases have a tendency to find solutions that are technically correct across the infield but that are not the intended solution. For instance a ditch invert elevation controlled by a target alias to a special ditch profile in the alignment will solve to a location that's perpendicular to the template drop but at an earlier station. A similar scenario has been observed attempting corridor point controls to the looped corridor. See attached PDF. Solutions contemplated include a toggle with the alias or point control to select either the near or far solution, or a range option as is used with horizontal feature constraints for templates.
