Enhance Annotation Definitions (Add text frame option and associate leader line to text)

Currently when creating/using annotation groups, the annotation definition can place a leader line. But when the annotation is placed the leader line is not associated with the text so if I move the text the leader line does not move with it.

Similarly, if I want the annotation to have a circle around the text (text frame) the only way to do with is to create a cell with the shape. But the size of the shape is static and won't change its size based on the length of text.

Civil labeler handles this very nicely, but annotation groups hold a lot of weight. I would much rather use an annotation group to annotate a selection of items all at once and then come back through and move the annotation for the couple that might need moved. that would be much faster than placing each annotation with civil labeler individually.

    I agree with the need for the text and leader to be associated. If the annotations placed by the annotation groups were using the label tools instead of annotation cells, the leader would be associated, and the text could be moved keeping the leader attached.

    If another idea post I read about the text crashes can't be implemented, at least this would allow users to move overlapping texts keeping the leaders associated and moving with the text.

    I was unaware that civil labeler can do that. I couldn't find that in any videos or in the online help. But there is a key benefit to annotation groups. And that is you can set it on the feature symbology. Which then allows for not only auto annotation when cutting sheets but also the end user doesn't need to know what labels should be used as it's already set in the standards. Bulk annotation with civil labeler is still only placing the same label multiple times. Where element annotation can annotate all elements in the model (that have an annotation group defined) all at once, including if annotation groups are different for different features (which you cant do with civil labeler). So I would prefer to use annotation groups where I can so the end user doesn't have to know which label to use and be able to annotate all elements at once. But small modifications to label locations will need to be made which is not as easy as with civil labeler.

    Civil Labeler can already annotate by Selection Set. What type of element are you trying to annotate? What does the annotation look like?
