The DIST Command in Open Roads is almost identical to the InRoads version with one problematic exception. Open Roads uses the last two actual shots to determine the direction to turn the 90-degree angle to generate its points. InRoads would allow the crew to shoot a single point following one DIST command and then use another DIST command and it would calculate its next 90-degree angle based upon the final DIST computed point and that single actual shot.
