Join Function in Table Editor Function similar to in Bentley Rail Track Horizontal Check Integrity Box

The join function is not available to join two or more straights with the same bearing that falls under one 'Complex Geometry'. This is especially problematic currently for us as there is currently no way to join two straights (see 'ORD Join Function Issue.PNG' )with the same bearing when one of those straights is generated from turnout placement:

  • Straight #1 of length 5.25160m (derived from placing a turnout that ends in straight geometry)

  • Straight #2 of length 10.07311m (derived from using Geometry Connector Tool)

Coaching sessions with Bentley have suggested two alternatives:

  • to use the delete vertex function (see Delete Vertex.PNG') under Drawing however it cannot be used in all situations and is a few extra steps for designers for annotation to be regenerated. - This doesn't seem to work for turnout generated geometry.

  • to use Table Editor and delete the vertices of the complex geometry however only Straight #2 derived from geometry connector tool can be deleted, if Straight #1 is deleted the software crashes (see 'Crash.PNG')

Bentley Rail Track used to have a join function (see 'BentleyRailTrack CheckHorizontalIntegrity Box Join.PNG') which enabled this to be allowed. Could this also be implemented into the Table Editor Function in OpenRailDesigner?

Civil Product Used OpenRail Designer

I agree, this type of operation needs to be brought back into the latest software.
